The Goal of Maxx Poems

Maxx Poems is a collection of poems intended for the struggling reader grades 1-4 who benefits from the support of phonetically controlled material. While these poems are carefully structured to complement and enrich any Orton Gillingham based program, they are filled with rhythm, rhyme, illustrations and humor. Their goal is to bring a smile to the reader’s face as he decodes sounds valuable for his acquisition of word attack skills. Maxx may be used as control reading to support a newly learned phoneme or concept and because of their length, these poems are ideal for fluency drills as well.
